Recycled Barrel Furniture For The Best Outdoor Living

If you are a wine or whiskey drinker we will have the most ideal furniture for your home garden or patio. We have been handcrafting furniture from reclaimed barrels for 10 years. Our designs include lounge chairs, barstools, tables and more. Please feel free to check out our online shop now!

When it comes to outdoor living our signature lounge chairs are must have. We have made over 1100 of them! They come in a couple versions: Wine or whiskey, Wide or narrow top backrest and the option as a rocker too. The rocking chairs we make are the best available on the market. You probably hear that claim all the time but an important fact about ours is that we recurve the rocking stave to perfection.

This means that the bottom stave which you rock back and fort on is steamed for a couple hours then curved to the ideal shape for proper motion. This concept is actually a must if you want a rocking chair. Whiskey barrels have a very slight curve only which almost have no rocking motion at all. The shortest and widest wine barrels will come close to be a great rocker but those are also rare. For these reasons the best concept was just to make our own custom bottom staves.

“Our first chair is still standing strong after a decade!”

Recycled Barrel Furniture For The Best Outdoor Living can be a great way to be “green” while enjoying the great out doors. French and American white oak is highly resistant to weathering and it’s very durable. I even have my first chair still which was made back in 2012. It might be rustic and faded in color but structurally it is still solid. All of our furniture is finish with an exterior protective oil which will help with longevity and can be easily re-applied when necessary.

The Best Long Lasting Outdoor Wooden Barrel Furniture

The Best Long Lasting Outdoor Wooden Barrel Furniture

French & American white oak is an amazing wood. They are highly resistant to rot and very robust. French oak is more on the lighter side when it comes to density. As well as its color and patinas.. When you see a wine barrel most often it will be much more cleaner looking than an old whiskey barrel. They might even hold their shape as a barrel for longer period of time when they are empty and start to dry. Visually these are great characteristics from recycled lumber. Wine barrels make for awesome home decor and other small accessories. The only downside is when you use wine barrels for major big furniture designs you will have to pick very carefully for the best barrel staves. Luckily for us we have hundreds of barrels on hand so that is no problem for us.

Wine barrels and whiskey barrels make for the best Long Lasting Outdoor Wooden Barrel Furniture. Simply put, there is a reason why wine makers and distilleries have been using them for centuries. French and American quarter sawn white oak is at the top when it comes to longevity. Like all wood, the sun will usually fade the colors but it will not deteriorate due to weather.

Barrel chair #1 is still sitting strong after a decade! Talk about The Best Long Lasting Outdoor Wooden Barrel Furniture

Whiskey barrel lounge set

Our favorite is the American white oak which whiskey barrels are made from. We do often stumble upon a wine barrel made from American white oak but that is rare. As the whiskey barrel dries and ages the wood becomes even more dense. When you work with this material you and your tools can definitely tell the difference between wine and whiskey wood. The colors and patinas of whiskey is much more darker. Not to mention the inside off the barrel is charred so instead of a charming wine color you have a deep burnt black.

Whether you are wine enthusiast or a whiskey connoisseur both barrel options will provide The Best Long Lasting Outdoor Wooden Barrel Furniture. Our handcrafted Whiskey Barrel Bar Stools That Swivel come in two versions and available in two height options. The swiveling bar stools can come with either a backrest or no backrest. They are also available in a 26 inch or 30 inch seat height. The 26″ is ideal for 36″ counter height tables like kitchen islands and the 30″ is best for bar height tables that are usually 42″. The design is ideal for home and commercial use. We have sold plenty to restaurants and tasting rooms. Incase you have an unusually table height we can also make custom heights as well.

However, if you are looking for something much more intricate I would recommend our very beautiful bar chairs. These are a combination of our bar stools and lounge chairs. These of course come with a backrest and arms rest while also much more wider than the bar stools. They also swivel and well and can be made in custom height if needed. The bar chairs we don’t usually keep in stock so please be prepared to wait 2-4 weeks to receive them.

“One of a kind Handcrafted Whiskey Barrel Bar Stools!”

Handcrafted Whiskey Barrel Bar Stools

In this paragraph I will discuss the barrel types we use. If you decided on the design you like best but not sure whether to pick Wine or Whiskey here are a couple key facts about the wood type. Wine will be much for lighter in color. The outside of the barrel will have much lighter patinas keeping the oak looking clean and golden brown. The inside of the wood will most likely have a red, burgundy or purple colored staining front the wine. Please not that after a few years he wine colors will fade away. The star from the wine is organic and after being exposed to the air the colors will start to fade. This will be much faster if in direct outdoor sunlight.

If you choose whiskey barrel wood the outside of the barrel wood will be darker and how lots of different patinas. Dark greens, browns and reds from the oxidized metal bands. Don’t worry all harsh ware and tare on the barrel is sanded smooth and clean leaving a magnificent reclaimed lumber with a rich history. The inside of a whiskey barrel is charred so that side of the wood will be black. After we wire will that side smooth we clear coat the seating parts to prevent any black residue to come off.

The Best New Saddle Barstools Made From Reclaimed Whiskey Barrels

A few months ago we upgraded our barrel bench design into a saddle barstool version. This design allows us to use more of our left over narrower staves. We accumulate a lot of these narrow staves over time because our very popular lounge chairs and rockers don’t need them. Actually, most of our bigger furniture pieces don’t either. The narrower staves only work great for the seating portions and that is only a couple pieces per unit.

The Best New Saddle Barstools Made From Reclaimed Whiskey Barrels have been a huge hit since their launch in November. We have sold well over a hundred and received nothing but positive feedback. The best part is that they come in a select number of heights. They start at 18″ which is your basic table seating height all the way up to 30″ for bar seating. The most popular however has been the 26″ which is ideal for kitchen islands. Those usually measure at a 36″ table top height.

We have designed The Best New Saddle Barstools Made From Reclaimed Whiskey Barrels. Save space with their sleek elegant shape. Heavy duty!!!

The barstool’s seat is 10″ deep and 18″ wide. The base is only 20″ by 14″ so they are great when it comes to sliding them under the counter and out of the way. No more bulky giant stools sticking out making a kitchen feeling small. The simple design is very sturdy and can be beefed up easily by using thicker staves if a customer calls for them. In the past we did have a client who had some very big and tall family members who were over 6’6″ and 300 lbs. For their stools we doubled the width of the leg staves. Simple as that and they were very happy with their purchase.

Check out these new stools and order a few today. If you sign up for our newsletter you can also get Coupon Code to save on your first purchase.

The best New Big Bourbon Whiskey Barrel Walls for you!

Bourbon Whiskey Barrel Walls

If you have a boring whiskey bar and are looking for an exciting new upgrade than we highly recommend our latest product. We have developed a wall panel system that can be installed with easy. We took our left over material from our popular furniture line and have turned them into more up cycled creations. Each full size panel can be installed with ease and a whole entire wall can be cover in mere minute.

When it comes to installation of full size panels you can do most the work your self. If you have drill, level and tape measure then you can get started right away. The full size panels come with pilot holes and are measured at stud spaces. (32″) If you don’t hit any studs no worries you can always use wall anchors with the screws and some construction adhesive like Liquid Nails on the back for additional strength. Always be sure to use a dab of Liquid Nails when you can’t hit stud because these are real reclaimed oak panels. The barrel wood is very hearty and dense so the weight will add up. Each panel is just under 10 lbs so when you go 8 panels in height you are looking at quite a heavy load for the bottom.

Have a lot of empty wall space in your whiskey bar? Cover with easy with our New Big Bourbon Whiskey Barrel Walls panels.

After you installed all the full size panel you might be left with spots where you have to make cuts. For these it is best and easiest to use a finish nail gun with 1 1/2″ or 2″ finish nails and the Liquid Nails construction adhesive. Simple cut the panel to the desired length or rip cut it if you have to and then glue up and nail to keep in place.

Bourbon Whiskey Barrel Walls

All contractors or handyman can do this job no problem. With the right tools and a little know how you should be able to cover a wall very quick. There will be a video up sometime in the near future and if you have any question please feel free to contact us.

The New Wine Barrel Wall Panels

Wine Barrel Wall Panels

We have been working hard on developing our new wine barrel wall panels. The most important thing was to find a way to minimize the work load that usually goes into installing barrel wood onto wall. Most places will use full length staves or cut up pieces which then need to be nailed and glued up individually. That is what usually makes the whole process of using reclaimed wood a nightmare. If you have the know how and time, I guess you wont mind but most people unfortunately don’t.

Our concept was to make purchasing and then seeing the final product installed the shortest time possible. We have tons and tons of wine barrel wood in stock to make the turn around time only a few weeks. Or only a few days before shipping if we have panels ready. You probably don’t want to be waiting months to turn your dream wine room into a reality.

The new Wine Barrel Wall Panels are here and available now!!! Turn your wine cellar or wine bar into an elegant room to sip your favorite red.

With a few simple tools any handyman/carpenter can easily install these panels in minutes or if there are lots of intricate cuts a few hours. The whole panel concept is to maximize the amount of barrel wood you are putting up at a time. The bigger chunks available, the faster the job will be. The most important factor to remember is if you are doing a large open wall, the panel will be flying up in minutes. The solid backboard also has pre-drilled pilot holes spaced at stud gaps 32″ to help with this. With a dab of construction adhesive like Liquid Nails to make the job solid as possible. If you wont be hitting any studs just be sure to use a wall anchors and a little more Liquid Nails. A finishing nail gun with the Liquid Nails will make the small unique cuts stay in place. The Wine Barrel Wall Panels work really great for the cutting as well. Since the panels is solid you can cross cut and rip cut with easy. Again many pieces at a time, not individually.

We should have a video up as well soon to help with any sort of installation question.

Whiskey Barrel Wall Tiles

Whiskey Barrel Wall Tiles

We have been working on our new Whiskey Barrel Wall Tiles for a while now and they are finally ready for purchase. Our new design allows for a very simple installation that can be done with ease and quick. A full size panel covers 3 sq ft at a time and has a solid backboard which can be cut in any direction. The back board also has pre-drilled pilot holes spaced out at stud gap lengths. After you place the first one level and on studs the rest can be installed very fast. This system was created for customers and clients who are looking to cover a large area but don’t want to glue up individually barrel pieces at a time.

If you are worried about not hitting studs please do not worry. The panels can also be drilled into standard drywall with construction adhesive on the back. Wall anchors for the screws is recommended when you are installing lots of panels going upwards. Each panel weights 9-10 lbs so proper installation is very important. Especially if you don’t have anything underneath the bottom row like baseboards or a counter.

Beautiful whiskey barrel wall in minutes.”

If you are looking to cover an area like backsplashes which will most likely require lots of intricate cuts the best method is to use finish nails and construction adhesive. This is also a very quick method just be sure your glue is setting before you pile on the rows above. Pease remember that these are genuine oak barrel wood which is very hearty and dense.

The panels sell at $35 a square feet with FREE SHIPPING. A box has 5 panels are will cover approximately 15 square feet. After you order if we don’t have in stock please allow a few weeks for production. We will have a video up in the next few weeks to help with the installation.

If you have any question please feel free to contact us.

New Batch of Whiskey Barrels

A few weeks ago I had to take a couple of days off from still trying to catch up with some Christmas back orders. Feels like it doesn’t matter how soon I start preparing for the holidays it’s never early enough. This time, it was middle of October when I started cleaning barrels tops and milling runners for our very popular whiskey barrel head clocks. Since they are a small home decor product and because of their massive market, they have become our number one holiday seller. Every time I think we have the right amount ready for the end of the year rush, a few days into December the realization hits me. We are going to need at least 25% more clocks ready to ship by next week or we may fall short and have to refund customers. Losing money and more frustratingly disappoint any holiday shoppers isn’t my style.

New Batch of Whiskey Barrels

Long story short, with a few additional hours and couple extra weekends of work, everyone received their holiday gifts safely and on time. The only back orders we had are for buyers who purchased big furniture. Needless to say we did discussed it with them that during the holidays most large items will have to ship after Christmas. Lucky for us our furniture customers totally understand this and are more than happy to wait. So with only a few sets of barstools left on the back order list, it was time to go re-up on barrels.

When it’s time to re-stock barrels I never wait for them to get low. I must feel secure with our inventory because sometimes you do have to search for them which requires lots of calls and emails. After all, wine and whiskey barrels aren’t usually sold down at every nursery or hardware store. Plus if you ever see some, the price tag on them is usually few hundred percent more than what their whole price really is. This is because of their logistics. When a barrel is still moist and solid it can weight up to 125 lbs. They are 34″ tall and about 26″ at their widest point. Shipping one with FedEx Ground can cost up to $250. While freight will be cheaper, the quantity of a full truck load can lag. This is because everyone will ship them only on pallets for easy mobility.

New Batch of Whiskey Barrels

If you want to fill a whole semi from top to bottom you will have to do it yourself. This is definitely possible because carriers usually allow a 2 hour load time. But if you have to drive far or fly to their locations, then it might just be just simpler to rent a big box truck and do it yourself. This is what we do. Sure the gas price and our time can add up but, I like to have peace of mind that we are actually getting the best material and the maximum amount as possible. Loading a truck is hard and dirty work. Hopefully someone has thought you how to lift with your legs before setting off on this strong man exercise. I have moved well over 10,000 barrels and I did develop a good lifting technique. It’s all about quick swift motions and letting the barrel rest on the other barrels as you put them on one another.

Rolling them on the ground should be a no brainer. You can roll them horizontally or upright while slightly on their edge. If you mastered this skill be sure you do it only on floors that don’t matter if they get damaged. The metal bands will most likely dig into the surface. I have seen quite a few hardwood and even concrete floors get ruined this way. The shear weight of the barrel and the metal corner will become like a knife. Don’t worry, I too have accidentally sliced an extension cord like rolling them like this.

The types of barrels we most often get are bourbon whiskey barrel. The distilleries brands will often indued the following: Jim Beam, Buffalo Trace, Maker’s Mark, Wild Turkey, Four Roses, Barton 1792 and Jack Daniels just to name a few. When getting to their warehouses the barrels are mostly wet and solid. making the loading nice and easy. Not really, it’s hard to double or triple stack a hundred barrels. What I mean by nice and easy is that when a barrel is dry and the stave starting to come loose, the whole barrel looses its structural integrity. At this point as you try to roll them, the rings will be falling off and the barrel will barely stay together. As long as the very top and bottom ring stay you should be good. Even thought loading dried out barrels can be a pain, it’s actually a benefit for us. Why? Well, since we are furniture makers the wood being dry is a must. If they are not then we have several months to go before our tools can even touch them.

When we receive a New Batch of Whiskey Barrels that aren’t dry enough we have to store them outdoors for a few months. Luckily our location is in Las Vegas where it’s a very dry climate. Even if the summer heat isn’t baking them, the winter alone is a very dry time. Sure the few occasional rain storms pass through but even so the lack of moisture in the air stays minimal all year around. As the barrels dry the rings slip off and they start to lean to onside. Gaps between the staves open up and when you can see sun light through them it mean they are ready to be used. This doesn’t mean we break down barrels as we need them for projects. Every month or so I like to break them down and store all the staves and barrel heads neatly on pallets. This way when it’s time to prep material I already have them ready in an orderly fashion.

I will write another blog where I go into detail on the material prep work sometime in the near future. In the meantime if you have any question or comments please feel free to email me. Also, if you are seeking Coupon Codes and would like notification when new products are available please sign yup for our online newsletter.

Have great day!
