The Hungarian Workshop has been San Diego’s number one place to order fine quality Wine barrel furniture. In past four years we have teamed up with Stone Brewing Company and haven’t slowed down since. Another big client of ours has been couple of the local Whole Foods Markets and few smaller local brewery’s tasting rooms.

In past year I have been doing a lot of product and development and we have entered a whole new demographic of strictly interior design. The concept of adding fine leather to our current pieces become evident after our products were needed in more and more interior location. By end of the summer we will have the whole new leather line available online and most likely in a couple retail store.

The Chair –

We handcraft each chair from a single wine barrel that is the perfect shape and size for a rocker. Many people often think you can use just about any barrel, but in fact it is important to use a short and round one. Likely a Cabernet barrel will fit that description. They have a much bigger curve radius and wider staves that work very well. All major joints have support brackets underneath for additional reinforcement which we make our self from the Wine Barrel’s rings. All the other hardware is stainless steel for great quality and a high end look. For the finish we use Brazilian Rosewood which protects the oak while bringing out the beautiful grain pattern and patina.

The backrest and seat feature the fine Italian leather upholstered by hand in a tufted style.

Italian Full-Grain Leather 

FULL-GRAIN has been a favorite for a long time that has a very natural look and feel with a generous color palette. Unlike top-grain leather, the surface is left naked. It is aniline-drum dyed and softer to the touch. For anyone who is a true leather purists and those who appreciate the beautiful patina that is enhanced with age.

Barrel Chairs with LeatherThe Barrel Chairs with Leather design is one of my most proudest creations and it has definitely been very well received. By adding leather upholstery to our barrel furniture line, it has opened up the door to a whole new demographic.


We carry a great variety of barrel furniture that will soon be available in the upholstered interior versions.


The concept came to when I wanted to start seeing my chairs in more of a classy lounge style places and hotel lobbies. Whiskey bars or distillery tasting rooms seemed like the perfect locations too. Many home wine cellars, bourbon rooms and “man caves” would fit the bill as well. This years business goal is to finish our new leather line completely and land a mass distributor who can help make our pieces available worldwide. We already have quite a few items over seas like Germany, Ireland and Dubai just to name a few. But I would like to see those numbers grow.

With a little redesigning and engineering I turned our most popular seller into a sleek, comfortable one of a kind lounge chair. The same great style but with a new elegant and high end look. With the right modifications we were able to keep all the dimensions and profile the same. Both the seat and backrest feature a fully padded and tufted leather cushions. As always, this products can also be made from Wine and Bourbon barrels. Leather colors are also available in multiple different options and more coming soon. The main five colors are going to be a tan, dark brown, black, red and gold. Once we get all the other option figured out we will be happy to accommodate for custom orders.


Bourbon Barrel Chair in GermanyOur biggest client and favorite brewery, Stone Brewing Company in sunny San Diego has quite a few in their restaurant lobbies, tasting rooms and lounge areas. We will be working with a couple other retailers like the Wine Enthusiast so get ready to see more of our new leather lines popping up all around.


The new leather additions will include benches, ottomans, swivel barstools and bar chairs. There will also be a couple special edition pieces which will be made from specific distillery brands.

Leather Barrel Chair  It is now time to move indoors with our new First Class Collection. I am sure you must have seen all sorts of barrel furniture before, but I bet these are the first with a full leather upholstery. The seat and back rest come with 2 inch thick furniture grade cushion that we wrap with high end leather. To increase comfort and presentation, all our Leather Barrel Chair stitched to create the tufted look.


Leather Barrel Chair 


There are three types of barrel to choose from and three leather colors. We have Wine Barrel that comes with the Cabernet leather. The Bourbon Barrel with the Bourbon leather.


And Rum barrel that features the Stout. Wine Barrels are generally much lighter in color and have a golden oak accent which pairs great with the burgundy. The Bourbon Barrels usually will seem darker with green, black and brown patina. Sometimes creating a very unique camouflage look which work best with the dark brown leather.


Leather Barrel Chair 


Rum barrels are the rarest ones we find. They may seem similar to Bourbon but I can assure you they are not upon closer inspection. because of the high sugar content, the wood soaks a lot of it in turning the material pretty much pitch black. With the pure black leather these chair resembles what I would call a pirate boat style piece. All black, dark and rustic.
