We at the Hungarian Workshop have Great Whiskey Decor For The Home! From the smallest items like coasters to the largest like our signature lounge chairs. Furnishings made from reclaimed bourbon whiskey barrels are a great way to add some rustic charm to any room. When done elegantly, you wont even notice what the material is at first. That is one our main goal when we up-cyle wine and whiskey barrels. By doing a solid and detailed prep work of the old wood, the term rustic wont really describe the piece anymore. However, the oaks patina and age will. Sure the barrel wood will have some character like discoloration, minor cracks, dings, and other imperfections but when it’s sanded smooth and finished properly all that fades into the background. Leaving the best parts like the design and craftsmanship to shine through.
When people first see the furniture and can’t tell they are made from barrels right away, I think we did our job. Most furniture these days isn’t handmade or even made from real wood. Which I fully understand because sometimes you just need a desk to write on for work. Nothing fancy. Just need a functional piece of furniture. The beauty of working with barrel wood is that we are not competing with those kinds of need. Our work is very specific and people who seek it want it for the artisan work, decor aspects as well as their function. And, needless to say because of the nature of the material, machinery or factory production wont be happing anytime soon. Each barrel stave is so vastly different that even jigs don’t really work. Width, girth and curvature is constantly inconsistent. The best we can guarantee is that all measurement will be the same. I don’t really like the term on of kind, but technically yes that is true about all items we make. You can place everything we ever made right next to each other and not one piece will be identical.

Our designs have been proven to last. My very first chair is still sitting in my backyard and it’s well over 12 years old now. Rain, sunshine and all other weather elements have been testing it and it is still solid and functions just like it did back in 2012. The other very important fact about our work is that we design and craft not just for the home use but commercial as well. Having hundreds and people sitting in our chairs, really puts them through the wringer. One of our biggest clients is Stone Brewing Company in San Diego. They too still have chairs made over a decade ago.
