Our new design was inspired by the concept to minimize further waste and try to use more of the barrel heads and stave end pieces. We usually try to focus on big picture stuff like our popular furniture line, but that often create lots of small cut off pieces. Mostly useless but with a little bit of creativity we can always come up with something. The Whiskey Cube Coaster Set is an elegant spin on the basic whiskey barrel wood coasters. Double Sided – When we mill down the barrel wood, we plain down the charred side and smooth out the outer side that way the customer has the option to use either side as a coaster. The charred side has a milled out circle which is nice and flat while the other side is also leveled. This way you have the option them for much bigger items as well. Hot pans or oversized mugs. We try to think of everything.
3/4″ Thick Oak Staves – When we plain down the oak we only do it about an 1/8″ to maximize its strength. Anything thinner could easily break and warp. Anything too thick would also be too big and bulky, and not as nice or easy to handle. The 3/4″ thickness is just the right size to work and look their best.

Holder Stand – This is a big one. The whole idea of a set is usually for a group of coaster with a “home”. This keeps them nice and organized while allowing the design to be called a set. Without it they would just be pile of coasters. While inside the stand the design takes on a cube shape, which then also adds to the appeal. Now while on display it is much more charming and a great whiskey accent piece.
Pleasant Visually Characteristics – The charred back oak with the milled out center has great contrasts. The light and dark oak really pops. The backside will often have distillery markings which also adds great character to the coaster while showing off the materials true history. The sides of the holder is made from the metal bands of the barrel further adding to the art of up-cycling.
