Repurposed, up-cycled, recycled and re-used is what a lot of people are looking for these days when it comes to furniture. And not just the interior designer who is looking to give that certain living space a rustic kick. There are many individual who are looking to go green by doing more than just throwing away their plastic bottles and cans in that big blue bin. Owning repurposed furniture is great way to keep more trees from being cut down and reducing on our waste. But don’t forget, anything can be reused. Whether it’s wood, metal or any sort of plastic if you think you can give it a new life, it’s worth a shot.
Wine & Whiskey Barrel Furniture
The Hungarian Workshop’s main focus is on up-cycled Wine and Whiskey Barrel Furniture. The company started out in 2010 making standard outdoor patio furniture and in 2012 transitioned into repurposing old barrels. Barrels are made from either French, Hungarian or American White Oak. The wood is a solid, sturdy and durable material which is great for furniture and it’s a shame to see them thrown away. Certain wineries and distilleries go through hundreds of barrels a year and I am just glad to know my company is helping out. So far we have turned well over 400 barrels into furniture and we are not showing any signs of slowing down just yet.
